I Spy with my little eye......

Well spring is most certainly here in Bristol, not only have the trees sprouted leaves and people started migrating up to Clifton Downs at the weekend but the Spyglass has returned from its winter hibernation as an Art Gallery!!! As the smell of BBQ wafts across the river from this ideally situated boat, I can't help but wish the days lasted a little longer.

For those of you not familiar with this Bristol restuarant it is moored on Welsh Back, just opposite King Street. As with a number of bars and restuarants in Brizzle it is floating hideout on an old river barge. Over the summer months it serves tasty BBQ making it a beloved destination of all those without the garden or ability to BBQ on their own. The food is delicious, locally sourced, healthy and it doesn't break the bank either. Main courses range from £6 up to £13 for Alcatra Steak or Monk Fish tail.
My favourite dishes include the King Spare Ribs, the meat is just so tender in falls off the bone, Whole Sea Bass is another yummy dish cooked on the BBQ for that delicate smokey flavour. And for those lazy weekends when you just want to enjoy a snack in the sunshine, the Tapas hits the spot washed down by an ice cold jug on sangria. For that moment I can't help but close my eyes and imagine that I am somewhere far far far away for the hustle and bustle of regular life.

So if you are looking for somewhere with a relaxed chilled out setting then you couldn't go wrong with a trip to the spyglass. For further information please refer to:
