This recommendation is more of an evening movie, in fact it is what I watched last night.... An American Werewolf in London! It is definitely an 18 film, there are quite a few gruesome bits although the makeup and prosthetics are all pretty fake maybe a little hilariously so when the undead Jack has a bit of skin dangling off his neck it is quite amusing. But this film was the first to win an Oscar for makeup on it release in 1981!
If anyone is a fan of The Railway Children, then it might come as a shock when Jenny Agutter isn't such a squeaky clean nurse and has a rather enduring sex scene. Rick Mail as a giggling spotty youth in the secretive pub the Slaughtered Lamb up in the Yorkshire moors is also quite amusing, and you can play spot the Midsomer Murders regulars in the cast.
At the end though I feel sorry for the Werewolf/David Keller...
